A Little Shuteye 12-14-08

Corky's parents were gone a lot this Sunday, so I went down to Long Beach to stay with him until after they took their guests for a ride on the Duffy (electric boat) to see the boats decorated with lights. So much excitement for Corky these days with people coming and going and decorations that make things look different. Poor guy is tired.
But he has this lovely comfortable bed that a friend gave him - perfect for a nap in the evening. If you click on the picture to enlarge it you will see that his left eye is open just a few mm. I know he is thinking, "If she would just leave me alone to get some sleep before the company comes."

A new pillow for Xmas 12-07-08

A friend of Corky's mommy gave Corky this bed - it is like a giant pillow and even has some bounce. Although it says it is stuffed with polyester fiber, I've just never felt any that rebounds to the original fullness so fast.

He can get up in the middle, but seems to like his feet hanging over - those dainty little feet that I love.

Wildfire devestation 12-06-08

We drove along Carbon Canyon Road in Brea today and I stopped to take a couple pictures. Corky didn't fuss to get out of the van - guess he could figure it out on his own.

Thanksgiving in LHC 11-27-08

Corky all snuggled next to his #1 person - his mommy. Not a great picture of her, but isn't he sweet?

I don't know what sticking out his tongue means to him - I wonder if he is just sick of having his picture taken.

Perfect Poodle Prince on a perfect Thanksgiving Day.

Corky's Grandmother Annabelle will hold Corky all day if he wants her to do so. He looks so big in this picture, but it is because his grandmother is very small.

With Autumn Leaves 11-02-08

Typically California - the leaves turn brown on the trees and the wind blows them down. No lovely autumn colors. When we walked in the park behind our house, Corky just ignored the leaves and we crunch-crunched along.

Doggie Rain Suit? 11-05-08

Corky in his makeshift raincoat - February 2005
When I took Corky out yesterday morning at 6am it was raining, which doesn't bother him a bit. But it started me thinking again about a doggie rain suit - or maybe a poodle rain suit would be more accurate. In February 2005 we had quite a bit of rain, so every day Corky would get wet on his walk and whenever he went out for business, then he needed to be dried and brushed out. I don't mind doing it, but Corky gets a little tired of it. So, I thought maybe I could make him a rain cover with a plastic bag - it worked pretty well, but the big problem are those fluffy trousers he wears. I tried four small Baggies with a hole cut in one corner of each for his feet to go through and they worked fairly well also. But it is time consuming to prepare the Baggies and then get him dressed in them. I've tried several designs since, but they are all time consuming and not very effective. Now I am inspired to work at that design again and see if I can keep his legs dry.

Corky's parents were gone for a few days, spent a day at home and then went away for another day. So, on Saturday while they were home I took Corky down for a visit - I know how much they miss him when they are away for very long. After dancing around in ecstasy Corky and his mommy curled up for some lovin' time.

Halloween costume for Corky?

I thought I could make Corkyinto a ghost for Halloween using this pointed hat, but he just looks like a white poodle in a pointed hat.
Except for his spooky eyes.

He sleeps... with his apricot pillow.

You can see why sometimes he is hard to find - he just blends in w/his bed.

He realized I was taking pictures and is about ready to give me a dirty look because I disturbed his sleep. All he does at Camp Del is sleep, eat, go for a walk, take his pills and get loved whenever he wants it. What a guy! What a life.

Corky shakes hands 08-14-05

Corky looking handsome on a red patio table and shaking hands. He is very polite, if someone extends their hand he obliges by putting out his paw to shake.
If he saw Suraya he would shake her hand!

The Patient Being Patient 10-12-08

Corky was very low keyed on Friday, the first day of his antibiotics. He likes to lay on the bottom few steps at his house. Here he has tucked himself into a step and looks so comfortable. He is so accustomed to having his picture taken that he will just stay in one pose for quite a long time. I just take one shot and say, "Stay" and he stays. So patient.

His Mommy told me this evening that he is doing just great. But just like people he must take the full course of the antibiotics, which will end next Thursday.

Corky in his brown bed 10-07-08

Corky was eager for his Mommy and Daddy to come home. This bed is in the hall/dining area, so he has a direct view of both the front door and the garage door. Auntie Del watched him "remake" his bed about five times before he had it just right.

He found the final comfortable arrangement , put his chin on the edge of the bed and both feet on the little pillow. He does look regal. When he heard the truck he jumped out of bed and ran in circles, barking - he really lets his parents know that he is glad they are home.

Corky in a Snit June 2006

Corky says he is so tired he can't keep his eyes open. He wants to go to bed.

He has turned his back in disgust - TIME FOR BED!

He is looking daggers and threatening Auntie Del with consequences.

So, he gets on the bed and places himself so there is no room for her. Just like any Prince, I guess. Posted by Picasa

Coffee @ Starbuck's 10-04-08

Corky found it really boring to listen to Auntie Del and Liz visit. He has a sweet little curl under his chin.

Neither Corky or Liz was interested in having their picture taken.

Liz gave in, but Corky was having none of it.

At least until Auntie Del held up a bag of treats under the camera. That got his attention.
Hello to Suraya!

Sleeping at Camp Del 10-03-08

Waiting at the bedroom door and begging Aunty Del to go to bed.
[I read an item about removing the ghoulish eyes, but haven't tried it yet.]
In bed at last and taking up more than his share of the bed.

Corky in his new doggy stroller 09-19-06

When Corky had his tenth birthday in July 2006 he had developed arthritis in his left hip. It became hard to carry him much without hurting him, so his parents bought him a stroller made for small dogs.

I said "No way is he going to stay in that." I was wrong. In the two years since, he has never tried to get out of it. He rides around with a princely air, I almost expect him to start waving.
